We will discuss how to compute one-loop amplitudes in QCD by combining unitarity in higher dimensions with tree level recursion relations. We will discuss the application to generic LHC processes which involve quarks and vector bosons. In particular we will see the production of W bosons in association with three jets at the LHC. We investigate how next-to-leading order QCD corrections modify basic kinematic distributions of jets and leptons. We will also address the magnitude of NLO QCD effects in W+3 jet observables, relevant for SUSY searches at the LHC.
