Description
The Beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPC) had ever been a unique facility running in the tau-charm center-of-mass energy region. The Beijing Spectrometer detector (BESI and BESII) at the BEPC has operated since 1989 and studied many physics topics. In 2003, the Chinese Government approved the upgrade of the BEPC to a two-ring collider (BEPCII) with a design luminosity of 1x1033 cm-2s-1. With this luminosity, the new detector BESIII will be able to collect, for example, 10 billion J/ψ events in one year. This will allow unprecedented physics opportunities in this energy region and contribute to precision flavor physics. After recall briefly the history and major achievement of BES experiment at BEPC, the status of BEPCII and BESIII upgrade will be presented in this talk.
