Direct Search for Transparent Baryonic Dark Matter : Simulation and Observation

Cool molecular hydrogen H2 may be the ultimate possible constituent to the Milky-Way baryonic hidden matter. I will describe a new way to search for such transparent matter in the Galactic disc and halo, through its diffractive and refractive effects on the light of background stars. An extensive simulation program of the process has been developped,and I will show the promising perspectives for the hidden matter search. I will also present a preliminary search for scintillating stars behind known gazeous nebulae, using test data taken with the ESO-NTT telescope.
