Accelerator R&D in support of the energy, intensity and cosmic frontiers - a few selected samples

I will touch upon selected aspects of current efforts in accelerator R&D at the energy frontier at CERN (e.g. the Future Circular Colliders (FCC) and the proton beam -driven plasma accelerator experiment AWAKE) and the intensity frontier at Fermilab (e.g. PIP-II high intensity proton accelerator complex for the long-baseline neutrino experiment and associated advanced studies of nonlinear integrable dynamics including space-charge at the Integrable Optics Test Accelerator (IOTA) ring). I will finally conclude by pointing to exciting possibilities of laboratory-based experiments to address the cosmic frontier (e.g. dark matter and dark energy), but using accelerator-based skills in cavities, lasers, and atomic beams in vacuum.
